Boulder Colorado’s bears need your help this fall!

BOULDER – As bears enter hyperphagia where they consume large amounts of food in order to prepare for hibernation, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking citizens to take extra precautions to prevent conflicts with bears.

Local wildlife officers Kristin Cannon and Kris Middledorf and Urban Wildlife Conservation Coordinator Val Matheson will hold a presentation on ‘Bears in Boulder’ on Wednesday September 11th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dellwood Room at the West Senior Center, 909 Arapahoe Avenue.

“In recent weeks, Boulder has seen a high number of bears coming into the city near schools, houses, and parks,” said Kristin Cannon, wildlife officer for north Boulder. “The bears face perilous outcomes. This fall, the Boulder community will play an important role in protecting bears and preventing conflicts.”

Neighbors are invited to come for an evening of information and discussion and to learn some simple steps to take to protect our bears and our neighborhoods from negative consequences.
